Another successful Greek Community Service Event. Special thanks to our ΩΔ Brothers that came out.
Alpha chapter had a great time participating in the annual Walk As One, where our brothers helped spread awareness about alcohol safety around campus.
"Students and police spent Wednesday evening knocking on thousands of doors near the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus to deliver important safety information to students about "Unofficial St. Patrick's Day."
The event was part of the Champaign Community Coalition's "Walk As One" campaign, which in recent years has made an annual stop on campus. Students from campus fraternities and sororities, other student volunteers, university officials and police officers from the U. of I., Champaign and Urbana departments broke off into groups with a goal of knocking on 4,000 doors."

Lets congratulate Theta Chapter at SIU for receiving the Outstanding Philanthropic Event award, and Brother Adan Pedroza Jr. on receiving IFC Outstanding New Member of the Year!
Community service is not the only way that SIU Greeks give back. Every individual chapter raises money for various charitable organizations, and has their own way of doing so. This year Theta chapter had a very successful philanthropic fundraiser. Proceeds go directly towards the LLS to fund research and find a cure for lymphoma. Adan Pedroza has served as the assistant vice president of special events with the Inter-Fraternity Council, recruitment chair for the Omega Delta Fraternity, and has worked with Columbia Links as well as participated in Global Bridges Honduras.
For the 2015-2016 academic school year, Zeta chapter received the Chapter of the Year and Outstanding Community Service Awards. Zeta chapter continues to stand strong and the brothers dedicated to giving back to the community that has given them so much. Service to the community in which you live is a fulfilling aspect of being Greek.

On April 2nd, Beta chapter visited Hope Haven to assist them in their endeavors to the community. They provided services by cleaning and doing maintenance work. By doing this, they allowed them to focus on serving the homeless around the area, rather than dealing with these tasks. Even if this may not seem terribly important, any contribution helps the cause.
At this time they have officially raised over $2,871 within a month. Great job Beta chapter!

The Food Packaging Project involves packaging 149,000 meals - one thousand for every year of public engagement since the University was chartered - for local foodbanks to be distributed to needy families in Champaign-Urbana.
